We’re proud to welcome Townsend as the latest member of our Employer Partner Programme, strengthening a long-standing partnership built on a shared commitment to skills development and community investment.
Founded in 1947, Townsend has grown from its roots as a traditional electrical contractor into a multi-skilled business offering electrical, mechanical, and joinery services. Now under the leadership of Paul Huntley, the company continues to thrive, employing around 40 dedicated staff and delivering contracts across sectors including education, public services, commercial industries, and heavy industry along the Humber Bank.
Townsend’s strong local roots have always shaped their approach to business. With many contracts placing an emphasis on social value, the company actively supports the local economy by working with regional suppliers, employing local talent, and prioritising apprenticeship training in partnership with Grimsby Institute, part of the TEC Partnership.
Paul Huntley said:
“As a local business, we strongly believe in employing local people and supporting the local economy. Nurturing young talent has become one of our core values.
“Many of our staff began their careers with us as apprentices. In fact, I started as an apprentice here over 30 years ago.”
By joining our Employer Partner Programme, Townsend has reaffirmed its dedication to investing in future talent, contributing to the region’s economic growth, and supporting the next generation of skilled workers.
“We’ve always had a strong relationship with Grimsby Insitute. The quality of training our apprentices receive has always been excellent, so joining the Employer Partner Programme was a natural next step,” Paul added. “We’re excited to build on our partnership and continue supporting skills development together.”
We’re delighted to celebrate this collaboration with Townsend and look forward to the opportunities it will create for learners, apprentices, and our local community.
